The Fujiwara effect or Fujiwara interaction is a type of interaction between two nearby cyclonic vortices, causing them to appear to "orbit" each other. (from Wikipedia)

With the Filipinos' penchant for Taiwanese (Meteor Garden) and lately, Korean soap operas (Full House and Princess Hours - to name a few), I've always wondered why nobody has thought about producing a project with these guys yet. And now, after being fed with a strange concoction of aliens that look like burn victims, remakes of past drama hits, remakes of other soap operas, and the usual lost-child-true-child formulas, finally, something interesting.

Produced by Ignite Media Inc. and GMA Films, and filmed in the islands of Batanes - is Batanes (thank God not another song title for a movie title!) starring Iza Calzado and Ken Chu (of F4 fame). And it's not just a TV drama series, it's a movie. I checked out the trailer on youtube and it looks quite promising.

I know, I know, just another love story right? But at least we won't be seeing people in stupid costumes and pretend there's a story there somewhere.

Hopefully Batanes is the start of something good for the (dying) Philippine film industry. There has got to be something more, something better, out there.

Right, Amber? lolz.
