before i get my 3 hour-sleep (if you can call it that), let me just say that after watching The Correspondents (while working) last night i am shell-shocked to learn that

EVERYDAY, ONE CHILD IS ADMITTED INTO THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR MENTAL HEALTH. EVERYDAY. IN THIS COUNTRY. AND THAT THE BUDGET FOR EACH PSYCHOLOGICALLY DISTURBED CHILD BEING TREATED IN NCMH IS P70.00 PER DAY. P70.00, INCLUDING BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER, AND MEDICINES.

how much is one meal in your favorite fastfood?

* PRAISES, PRAISES! Manny Pacquiao has reportedly changed his mind on running for public office. Apparently, the Champ got the wake up call of his life during BoomBoom Bautista et al's boxing match in Cebu when the crowd "booed" after someone in the audience called The Manny "congressman". now The Manny says, don't ask him about politics, he wants to focus on his boxing. priorities, priorities he and his posse now say. may panahon daw para sa pulitika.

ewan ko sa'yo Manny.

shit. i have to work na.

6. i love this quote posted by rightkindoflove on bianca's blog:

"Sometimes reality has a way of sneaking up and biting us in the ass. And when the dam bursts, all you can do is swim. The world of pretend is a cage, not a cocoon. We can only lie to ourselves for so long. We are tired, we are scared, denying it doesn't change the truth. Sooner or later we have to put aside our denial and face the world. Head on, guns blazing. De Nile. It's not just a river in Egypt, it's a freakin' ocean. So how do you keep from drowning in it?”

i know i've been saying this for the nth time already. i think i'm going to get sick, read: the flu. hay grabe. panahon ata ng sakit ngayon, everywhere in the office i hear people sneezing, coughing, and sniffing. kung di lang super dami ng work dito sa office i would have gladly taken the day, no, week off just to rest. it's higly unusual nga kasi i really am not the most industrious person in the world. before, in my previous jobs when i felt like i needed a break i just did what i wanted. not get out of bed to work. now i get up early and go home late. may sanib ata ako ng mabait na espirito. or, could it be that waaah, i'm getting serious with life?

ang weird my friends are now calling me workaholic. feeling ko tuloy abnoy na ako.

okay time to go home.

but i just have to say this. i sooo kras direk laurenti dyogi! thanks kiten for digging up the web so i can drool all over the keyboard.

Just came from church. Today is Ash Wednesday.

For Catholics, Ash Wednesday is an important part of worship, as it marks the beginning of the Lenten fast. As a custom, this is where the priest marks the forehead of the faithful with the sign of the cross, a symbolism of penance -- thus the words, "repent."

So i went to church after work. St. Raphael Church in Legazpi was jampacked, it felt like we were lining up for some box-office movie. I haven't been to church for a long time -- and it felt a bit weird to be in church suddenly. Before deciding to go to church and magpakrus i thought about the time i last went to confession, or why i haven't been attending mass lately. i can not come up with neither a reason nor an excuse why i haven't been attending to my religious duties. i readily admit to not being particularly religious, but no, i am not an atheist, nor will i ever become one. i can say that i have a relationship with God, and i pray and avoid violating the Ten Commandments as much as i can...most of the time i feel that yes, someone, something bigger than life, time, existence is paying attention, sometimes i think that my needs and wants are far too trivial to ask compared to the problems of the rest of the world. in short, i trust God's plans for me and refrain from asking things that i may not need because He or She has not given it to me yet. does that make sense?

anyway.

so i went to church.

and as i lined up there with the city's so-called faithful, i wondered just how many of these people took the marks on their foreheads seriously. i wondered just how many of the hundreds of people there really repented - like what the sacrament calls for, and how many, after receiving this Holy Sacrament, went back to cheating their girlfriends. or stealing from others. or refusing to help their needy neighbor because he looks like a thief.

does the holy mark on the forehead help?

i still don't know.

warning: if you want to preserve harry potter the wholesome in your consciousness do not read this post.

i was never really a fan.

err...danny...humarap ka...yoohooo...

but maybe i'll reconsider.

okay, okay, before you harry potter fans go ballistic (pun intended bwahahaha), harry aka daniel radcliffe is wearing his birthday suit here because he's looking for his momma. okay, he's into theatre. he has an upcoming performance in a London play called the "Equus".

so i looked up what Equus means...

E·quus
n.[L., horse.]
(Zoöl.) A genus of mammals, including the horse, ass, etc.

wee-eell that should explain it.

you guys won't know if good old teddy boy has any interest in theatre would you?

yes ladies and gentlemen, i am not feeling well. my nose is running, heat is coming out of my eyes, and for some reason i am having hot and cold flashes. no i am not having menopause, stooopid. i think i may have a fever. all i want to do is lie down in bed and wrap myself in a nice, warm, downy-smelling blanket. and dream of teddy boy locsin jr. cooking me dinner in his boxers. or riding the bus somewhere in Seoul with Joo Ji-hoon (looking at his pictures he is girlier than i am magmumuka akong kargador i swear). or becoming the president of this country and sending all the nincompoops in the government to exile in Timbuktu or the South freaking pole.

but i am still here at the office thinking whether i should go and have coffee-out with my sister. i am so calling out for coffee. coffee. coffee. coffee.

but i am really sick.

sigh.

my apologies if the page looks weird my friends, i'm currently twisting ghetti's arm to make this part of the cyberspace look a bit more interesting. ghetti, thanks ha :)

in really sad news i just found out that Korean actress Jeong Da-Bin was found dead this morning. She committed suicide. it made me really sad, i used to watch her soap Attic Cat in Arirang before, when i was still blissfully "vacant" --- way before it was shown in Philippine TV. i didn't understand a word they were saying (no english subtitles) pero natuwa talaga ako sa kanila, in furness.

Like A Comet

Blazing 'Cross The Evening Sky

Gone Too Soon...
rest in peace, Jeong Da-Bin

the news says she had succumbed to depression. it's hard not to feel sad when something is taken away so suddenly. gone too soon. maybe she'll be happier, wherever she is.

well. tomorrow's my new year. hope something great happens! :)

The Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) has some nice suggestions on the showing of political advertisements: they are suggesting the use of a method employed in advertising to test whether a product - a soap, detergent, shampoo, food what have you -- is true to its claims: the TRUTH TEST.

Before public-official wannabees force their TV ads down our tired and tortured brains PANA suggests that their ads should be able to meet the "truth" criteria, which involves such qualifiers like if what the candidate is saying is true, if the candidate has credibility, if he is able to explain his planned programs (aka promises) properly, and the fourth one i forgot (waah sorry i'm nearly braindead from work). and unless they meet this criteria they shouldn't be shown to the public (thus sparing this poor nation from further massive bobonification). i think this is a GREAAAAAT idea. in fact i think this is the best idea i've seen reported on TV in the last ten years, i mean, days.

PANA says they are going to present this to the COMELEC in the following days. i really think they should get moving and i mean ASAP before the likes of Mike Defensor's moronic "Tol" political ads swamp our everyday lives and loot our brains of any hint of intelligence left. i mean keeeerizzt, what was mike defensor thinking putting an ad on tv with comedian pooh spoofing manny pacquiao and keanna reeves and some other bad actors calling out to him "Tol!!!" and then we see him looking back (presumably to us) and then smiling a smile ( complete with kasosyalan braces) that looked like he was about to fart??? anubeeeeh mike, low-budget is nice and all, but puhleazzzze, your political ad lacks sincerity and not to mention SENSE. okay?!? now hire another ad agency, better actors and please remove your mortifying ad from our tubes. lintek.

in other election-related issues, my aunt is one fierce woman. i'm proud of her. thanks to mr.conrado de quiros for once again making it clear that COMELEC people are idiots.

in happier matters...

i love that bianca is back to blogging! welcome back biancz! *much love*

my cousin lindy sings sooooo goood! i'm writing to her singing Moonpools and Catterpillars' "Heaven" in the background...

I believe in heaven and know
that I should just accept it all
So content with the paths that I walk on
surely I should see it all
So take care and don't go to far,
I will miss your soul
When the distance grows
and the nights are long
and your scared at times
and you wonder why
Take care and don't go to far
I will miss your soul
I've looked into the sky a hundred times
and I've seen the stars that shine so bright
I'm sure that one of them is you, my friend
Watching and waiting and hoping that
I'll be alright
So take care and don't go to far
I will miss your soul
And when the distance grows
and the nights are long
and you're scared at times
and you wonder why
Take care I will miss your soul
The road back home is shorter than you know
~ Heaven, Moonpools and Caterpilars

mmmyyy gooollly. four days to go and it's going to be my new year. can't believe life goes by so fast. but if you think too much you miss it.

learned something interesting watching korina sanchez's Balitang K yesterday.

according to her featured report in one of her segments, each one of us has exact doubles. as in a twin. only that this twin isn't something to be happy about. apparently this twin is an evil version of us. (you mean an evil person has an evil-er twin? scaaaary.)

this evil twin is called a doppelgänger. a little browsing in the net says that this creature is a shadow self that is thought to accompany every person. Traditionally, it is said that only the owner of the doppelganger can see this phantom self, and that it can be a harbinger of death. Occasionally, however, a doppelganger can be seen by a person's friends or family, resulting in quite a bit of confusion.

In instances of bilocation, a person can either spontaneously or willingly project his or her double, known as a "wraith," to a remote location. This double is indistinguishable from the real person and can interact with others just as the real person would.

read here for some famous doppelganger stories.
